Kumar’s #PadmanChallenge promotion has been embraced by the Bollywood battalion, and fans have been sharing photos of themselves across social media platforms. Is this just riding the wave, or will change be effected?

Imagine these stars holding a sanitary pad—an item often hidden or stigmatised in public. Their sensitivity towards this feminine issue is going to cause a ripple amongst young boys, the future gentlemen, to treat women with respect and dignity.
Even with sanitary pads, girls still stain during their periods. Playing sports, sitting through long classes or exams, and lacking proper toilet access make pads insufficient. Period stains continue to happen. It is a common practice for girls to ask their friends to ‘check’ their backs to see if there are any stains.
